Every Soul-Stirring Performance Of The 2020 Super Bowl Gospel Celebration

Featuring an honorable tribute to the late Kobe and Gianna Bryant, the 21st annual affair brought out the best of the best from gospel's circle.

The 21st annual iteration of the Super Bowl Gospel celebration came to life at the James L. Knight Center in Miami on Saturday (Feb. 1).

The gospel and football communities joined together under one roof to exalt the name of the Lord and uplift our spirits ahead of the Super Bowl LIV championship game Sunday night (Feb. 2). Unfortunately, the Super Gospel Celebration comes nearly one week after the world tragically lost Kobe Bryant in a fatal helicopter crash that claimed the lives of the NBA great, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna “Gigi” Maria-Onore Bryant and the seven other passengers aboard the ill-fated ride. In light of the past week’s heart-wrenching loss, the NFL-sanctioned concert came at a much needed time for those still hurting.

The yearly tradition brought together gospel's biggest names, including the venerable Lady of Soul Yolanda Adams herself, where they performed some of their greatest hits that provided some much needed healing to the souls of those who here in attendance or tuned in.

Here are the memorable performances from the night at the 2020 Super Bowl Celebration:

  • Donnie McClurkin w/ Melvin Chrispel and NFL Choir - “Victory Chant”

The venerable Donnie McClurkin and Melvin Chrispel kicked off the NFL-anointed tradition with a rousing medley to get everyone’s spirit in the right mood for the evening that was ahead. The two were joined by the NFL Players choir were they sung the rejuvenating, “Victory Chant.”

  • Melvin Chrispel - “For The Rest of My Life (I’ll Serve Him)”

Following his joint stage with South Carolina-bred pastor and gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, Melvin took over the stage and delivered a solo performance of his song, “For The Rest of My Life (I’ll Serve Him).

  • Anthony Brown and Group Therapy - “Blessings on Blessings”

In one of the night's more heartrending moments, Travis Greene took the stage after Yolanda Adams and Le’Andria Johnson. Greene launched into a moving performance of his chart-topping single, “Won’t Let Go.”

  • Gospel Medley of Commissioned

Gospel supergroup, Commissioned, comprised of Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, Keith Staten, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Brooks and Michael Williams, closed out the night with a medley of some of their greatest hits. They started off with a soul-touching rendition of their iconic “Ordinary Just Won’t Do” that had [crowd / audience] raising their hands high. They then switched the tempo up as they got attendees amped up with their upbeat salutation, “So Good To Know You (The Savior)” before they ended on the night with “Let Me Tell It.”
