R. Kelly's Chicago Studio Raided, Police Uncover Evidence
For the second time this month, Chicago police pulled up to R&B singer and accused sexual predator R. Kelly’s Chicago recording studio (notoriously identified in the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series as the base location for his sex cult hostages), as reported by TMZ.
Though the place has quite the reputation, it turns out law enforcement was actually there to scope out whether it’s being used for residency, the site adds, which is prohibited in terms of zoning policies. Nonetheless, cops scoped out the building upon their suspicions, and according to TMZ, uncovered solid evidence that there apparently has been some illegal activity going down at the studio.
TMZ reports that Chicago PD showed up at the spot on Wednesday morning (January 16)
The Cook County Building and Zoning Department were also in tow. TMZ reports that, by their standards, the studio is only permissible for industrial use—not residential. The site adds that upon building and zoning investigations, police often accompany members from the department. Thus, officials ran through the apartment just to check for evidence of possible residency occurring at the location.
And that's exactly what they found…
TMZ states that a City of Chicago spokesperson revealed that the searching officials uncovered building code violations from the property along with proof that the space was being occupied for residential use. “We’re also told officials discovered work that had been done inside without permits,” the site quotes the spokesperson’s statement. R. Kelly will now have one more reason to show up to court as a result of their findings too, as TMZ states that the city will be filing a complaint for a court hearing.
Tsk, tsk.
