'Ms Pat' Season 4: A Inside Look at Character Growth and Important Issues
"The Ms Pat Show" returns this week and promises to be wilder than ever, with a new baby, a road trip to a "reparations resort," and a church crush. The show's creator, executive producer, and cast reflect on what makes the work, their favorite moments across previous seasons, and what to expect going into season 4.
Jordan E. Cooper (Creator, Executive Producer):
What I love about what we do on the show is that we don't show a perfect marriage. We show a marriage that goes through struggles, and they find out how to get through on the other end.
For the new season of "The Ms. Pat Show," you are gonna go on the craziest roller coaster you've ever been in your life on television.
Tami Roman (Denise):
The Ms. Pat Show is giving you more of the same in a different way. What I mean by that is more laughs, more drama, more interesting stories that are based on Pat's comedy and her life. But, we're doing it the Ms. Pat way. My favorite scene in all the seasons of the show is when Pat and Denise discuss the trauma they went through growing up as children, (S2E7) because that's the scene people find out what's going on with Denise - why was she on drugs, how she's trying to recover , why that's a battle and a struggle for her throughout all the seasons. That's the first time you find out what's really going on with Denise.
J. Bernard Calloway (Terry)
One of my favorite moments from the first season to now, is the important issues we cover with abortion (S3E1), and how my perspective of it as a husband, as a man, and Pat's as her body is the one that's [having the procedure] so that episode was a lot.
You know when you're young and things happen in your life you don't understand why, but as you get older you discover why those things happened and why your parents made the decision—this season encompasses that a lot for myself, for Terry, for Pat, the kids, even for Denise.
Theodore Barnes (Junebug)
Junebug has evolved all around, sometimes not always in the right ways but that's why you have the siblings, mother and father, a loving auntie that have been through hell and back. But he's evolved very much. Just like myself.
Patricia
When the show first started, you saw a teenage mom who came out of the streets, got married and is trying to get things together along with helping her sister, who had demons also. And also was trying to be a comedian. Now the comedy career has taken off, the sister has gotten stable and you'll see Ms. Pat from season 1, 2,3 and now 4, deal with some of the trauma, the demons, alot of bad habits she learned that she's trying to correct. And she's getting them correct in season 4.
Y'all talking about funny? Wait until you see season 4. Y'all can thank me later.
"The Ms. Pat Show" returns May 23 on BET+.
