Ashanti Gifts Nelly With a Custom 1962 Impala For His Birthday
Ashanti pulled out all the stops for her man's special day.
To celebrate Nelly's 49th birthday, Ashanti went all out in throwback style. On Tuesday night (Oct. 31), she surprised him with a custom Impala that left the rapper speechless. The "Baby" singer posted highlights from Nelly's birthday-themed G.I. Moe party to social media.
According to TMZ, the fresh ride is a candy blue 1962 Impala convertible that features a Corvette L's motor. The vehicle is also outfitted with Nelly's record company logo, Derrty, as reported by USA Today.
In her Instagram Story, Ashanti posted when the moment went down. With a microphone in her hand, she told Nelly "Happy Birthday" and his jaw dropped as he looked forward. Overcome with emotion, he turned around and faced his lady as she hugged him tightly.
In the clip, she is heard saying "Play 'Ride With Me'", Nelly's hit song from 2000.
"Besides my kids, this is the best gift ever," Nelly is captured saying in the next frame of her Story.
He shared snaps of the fun night to the same platform where he thanked Ashanti. In the post, the couple is seen sitting in the front seat of the vehicle.
Getting the ride for the St. Louis rapper was a joint effort from Los Angeles to Atlanta.
Celebrity car broker Ronnie Broker told TMZ he got a call last week from DJ Envy, who said Ashanti was on the hunt for a gift for Nelly's birthday. Days later, the ride was in the Peach State and ready for the bash.
Celebrations are in the air this season for the twosome.
Last month, Ashanti toasted her 43rd trip around the sun, and Nelly made a sweet tribute in honor of her. To highlight her birthday, the "Country Grammar" hitmaker shared a loving video montage featuring throwback memories of the couple and recent ones, as reported by PEOPLE.
"One time for the birthday girl," he began the caption of the post on Instagram.
“Such a beautiful, an incredible person inside and out and one of the hardest working women. I know.. @ashanti Enjoy your day Ma you look awesome!!!! Happy Birthday Love ya!!!!”
The montage featured multiple frames of them performing together over the years and cute moments of the artists posing together.
In September, both artists confirmed they had rekindled their romance after 10 years apart.
