Debbie Rowe to Seek Legal Custody of Michael Jackson's Kids
Debbie Rowe is making a move to get primary custody of Michael Jackson's three children, TMZ reports. Rowe, who is the biological mother of Paris, 16, and Prince, 14, is going to court to fight for custody of those two kids, and will make an appeal to the judge to give her custody of 12-year-old Blanket as well. MJ's youngest is not her biological child.
According to sources, Rowe is deeply concerned about the environment the kids are in at the Jackson family home in Calabasas, California. She tells a friend she appreciates the efforts of Katherine Jackson, MJ's mother, currently the kids' primary guardian, but feels she is too old to care for them. "She is not connected with the kids or involved in their lives," Rowe reportedly told a friend.
As for TJ Jackson, Michael's nephew who was appointed co-guardian, Rowe feels he spends too much time on tour and away from the kids. Rowe's primary concern is with Jackson's brothers—especially Jermaine—who she believes are a negative influence on the kids.
If granted custody, Rowe hopes to move all three kids to her ranch in Palmdale, California, where she has a business breeding and grooming horses. But the former nurse won't be a single mom: Rowe revealed to TMZ on Thursday that she is engaged to be married. Her longtime friend Marc Schaffel popped the question and Rowe finally accepted. "He loves me, knows my kids, loves my kids, and we'll see where this goes," Rowe said.
A hearing date hasn't yet been disclosed to decide the kids' custody, nor is it clear if any members of the Jackson family will fight Rowe on it. The famous family rejected Rowe's appeal last year to become Paris's legal guardian.
