There was a very controversial ending to the U.S. Open’s woman’s final on Saturday (September 8).
Serena Williams was essentially penalized out of winning the Grand Slam tournament after she complained to the match’s umpire about a controversial call he made.
Her coach was accused of coaching, which is illegal, but very common and rarely ever called, especially in men’s matches. Carlos Ramos, the ump, seemed to be insinuating that Williams was cheating.

None of this is to take away from Naomi Osaka's historic win. The 20-year-old became the first Japanese winner of the tournament. Serena's grace in support of Osaka, who is also half Haitian, during the award ceremony shows why all black girls rock!
