And the Next Rapper Claiming to Be the New Tupac Is...

Coming of the "BooPac."

Another day, another generational Tupac.

At least that’s what’s becoming the norm after Boosie Badazz became the second rapper in just one week to align himself with the legendary hip-hop legend and West Coast icon.

Baton Rouge’s Ghetto Stories rap star sat down with VladTV to uncover a few details of his highly awaited album, which he just revealed a rather unexpected name for: BooPac. Declaring it his “biggest album to date,” Boosie said that the 26-track compilation is well-deserving of the title considering that he’s the chosen one to fill Pac’s shoes for his generation.

“It’s going to be a big ol’ thing, but you know it’s in my heart,” he said, addressing the backlash he might receive. “That’s what I want to do. I’m naming it ‘BooPac,’ it’s a double-disc, 26 songs because I’m my generation’s Tupac. A lot of people didn’t grow up on Tupac, a lot of people didn’t grow up on Biggie. Those who love that kind of music grew up on me.”

He also said the Pac-inspired title derives from what he believes is “forgotten music,” explaining that the All Eyez on Me rap legend had a gift to touch hearts with his music. According to Boosie, that sort of thing plainly doesn’t exist anymore. Toward the end of the interview, however, he reinforced that by no measure does he want to imply that he’s better than Pac, but he does crown himself the best living rapper of this time for the lane that he’s in.

“I’m the best living, and making this music that I make,” he said. “Tupac’s gone now, you know? It’s me who makes that kind of music — I’m the greatest of doing that kind of music that touch people. That’s my lane right now. Don’t nobody make that kind of music like Boosie — anybody will tell you that.”

Well, that’s one way to put it.

Check out Boosie’s explanation for his new BooPac album arrival at the 2:55 mark in the video below.
