J. Cole Gives Updates Fans On ‘The Fall Off’ Album As He Plugs Two New Singles

Two singles from the album drop tonight at 10 p.m.

Fans of North Carolina rapper J. Cole received some exciting news from the Dreamville artist earlier this week.

  • Cole surprised fans with an update on the progress of his forthcoming album, The Fall Off, while revealing some new music from the highly anticipated project.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (July 21), Cole revealed the titles of two new songs along with some potential album artwork of two fighting dogs being held back by chains while an unidentifiable person looks on in the background

  • The singles, “The Climb Back” and “Lion King On Ice” will drop tonight, July 22, at 10 PM. Both songs are produced by Cole, with additional production work from T-Minus and JetsonMade on “Lion King on Ice.”

The “Middle Child” rapper also relayed that he’s “taking [his] time”  and “still finishing” The Fall Off. As such, there’s still no release date in sight for the project yet.

  • Last week Olu, one half of hip-hop duo EarthGang, teased fans that his Dreamville boss was gearing up to release an album. However, fans’ hopes were soon dashed after the record label’s president, Ibrahim “IB” Hamad squashed the rumors, informing them “there is no Cole album coming out soon.”

  • Earlier that same day, J. Cole published an personal essay, titled The Audacity, on The Player’s Tribune reflecting on his past dreams of making it in the NBA and journey in the music industry. He delved into the soul-searching contemplation that planted the seeds for The Fall Off, which he seemingly hinted that the record could possibly be his last album.

“The fire that was once dying out has returned, and for that I’m grateful. On my career bucket list, there remain a few more items to check off before I give myself permission to enter whatever the next chapter of my life may be.”
