The talk show maven got the ball rolling on the shade early on when she had notorious TV villain Omarosa on her show in 2008. The ladies traded insults all throughout the segment, with Omarosa slamming the host, in front of her face, for her messy persona. Wendy clapped back by calling her "delusional" and "pathetic," in return.

At the end of October 2017, Wendy shocked viewers and her studio audience when she fainted, live on air, during her Halloween episode. After an extensive commercial break, she returned and finished the show. The following day, she explained that she had overheated in her costume.

Dating back to July 2016, Wendy alienated a large chunk of her audience when she claimed to be "offended" by the existence of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and the NAACP. "I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college," she said. "We have historically Black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There's the NAACP." After being dragged all over social media for her comments, with some even leading petitions to boycott her show, she apologized.

For years, rumors of Wendy's husband, Kevin Hunter, living a double life have been swirling, but after he was spotted out with the woman in question in September 2017, the story was reignited, making Wendy, herself, a hot topic. Unbothered by the gossip, she took to her show to explain that she's not worried, flashing her extravagant wedding ring for all to see.

Wendy's shady comments about Evelyn Lozada's marriage and child landed her in hot water with the reality star in March 2014. The talk show host commented that Lozada and her athlete's husband's then-newborn son was her "cash register." The comment didn't sit well with the Basketball Wives star, who took to Twitter to drag her in an extensive rant.

Wendy extended her role beyond "talk show host" in November 2014 when she co-executive produced the iconic and terrible Lifetime Aaliyah biopic. After social media overwhelmingly slammed the TV movie on all fronts, Wendy took to her talk show to brush off the hate. "I see my Aaliyah movie broke the internet this weekend," she said. "Everybody's got an opinion. Well, I must tell you, whether you loved or hate, you watched."

Wendy had a case of foot-in-mouth after she was slammed for victim-blaming Nelly's rape accuser in October 2017. During the Hot Topics segment of the talk show, she shared her opinion on the story, claiming the young lady "put herself in that situation," adding that "this wouldn't have happened," if she didn't. "Young lady, you've got to stay out of tour buses," she added. She apologized for her comments, the following day.

Many weren't hopeful that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West would have a lasting marriage, and Wendy Williams was at the top of that list. In fact, she made a bet live on air in September 2014 that she would eat crow if they remained married for more than 72 days (the length of Kim's previous marriage to Kris Humphries). Well, it's safe to say she lost the bet. Keeping her promise, she ate crow live on-air.

Everyone has an off day, and on November 10, 2016, Wendy showed that she's not immune to the occasional late entrance to work. Only, for her, her job is a live talk show that runs on a tight schedule, so when she showed up just as the double-doors were about to open, she had no choice but to make her way to the stage, sans makeup, a wardrobe change and her "show wig." As usual, she made it work, though.
