October's Promising Picks: Artists to Watch Out For This Month

Here are six artists you should keep an eye on.

October promises to be a big month for music as many artists are planning album releases and new tours. We’ve put together a list of six artists you should keep your eye on in October. Things are crazy out there right now, so let some new music into your life to help mitigate some of the stress.

  • Drake

October’s Very Own usually makes a splash during his birth month, but this may be one of his biggest celebrations to date. The Toronto rapper has kept fans waiting for his forthcoming eighth solo studio album For All The Dogs; while he technically hasn’t pushed back the release date, people are still itching. The new LP is scheduled to drop Oct. 6, further cementing himself as the 6 God. Drizzy is also still on his It’s All A Blur tour, which cranks out headlines nightly.

  • Byron Messia

The 23-year-old Saint Kittian superstar is hot off the release of 2023’s arguable song of the summer with “Talibans” and is now gearing up to release his next highly-anticipated LP. In September, the Dancehall and Afrobeats artist announced he’s dropping “Sad and Famous,” which already provided us with the strong single “Mad Dawgs” in October. During a recent interview with BET, Messia said it’s been “surreal” to watch his fame and accolades grow so quickly. Look for that to continue this month.

  • Sexyy Red

Sexyy Red has been one of the biggest breakout artists in all of 2023. It seems like she can’t miss when releasing any single, and that’s certainly the case with her latest, “Shake Yo Dreads.” There’s no doubt there will be many headlines on the St. Louis native, but she’s almost guaranteed to drop more bangers, and hopefully, a follow-up to June’s Hood Hottest Princess.

  • Westside Gunn

Buffalo’s own Westside Gunn is planning to release his latest album AND THEN YOU PRAY FOR ME on Oct.13th, and it will indeed be scary hours. It’s the Griselda rapper’s fifth solo studio album and first project he’s dropped since last October’s 10. The tracklist for the LP boasts some impressive features, including Denzel Curry, DJ Drama, Boldy James and JID.

  • SZA

It seems like 2023 has been the Year of SZA. She dropped her highly anticipated second solo studio album last December with SOS and has since dominated the Billboard charts and made her tour one of the must-attend music events of the year. To follow-up all the hype, the singer recently announced the deluxe version of SOS, which will be titled Lana and include 10 new tracks. While we don’t yet know the exact release date for the deluxe project, SZA’s also revamped her current tour.

  • Offset

October marks 11 months since Takeoff was shot and killed at a Houston bowling alley, and his fellow Migos group members Quavo and Offset have stayed busy since. Quavo dropped his latest solo album Rocket Power last month, and now it’s Offset’s turn. On Oct 13, ‘Set is slated to release his new solo album Set It Off, which bolsters the formidable singles “FAN” and “JEALOUSY,” as well as Michael Jackson-inspired cover art.
