If former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen was ever broke, he certainly will not be in the future if he wins a multimillion-dollar federal lawsuit against several websites that said he was filing for bankruptcy.
 
According to the lawsuit filed in Chicago Tuesday, not only is Pippen not about to file for bankruptcy but his net worth has not been below $40 million in the last 10 years.
 
If that is the case then Pippen definitely doesn’t make the cut for CNBC.com’s 15 Athletes Gone Bankrupt, in which he was featured April 26. Earlier, on Jan. 26, CBSSports.com ran a story with the headline, “Money a problem for a lot of former players” accompanied by a large picture of Pippen.
 
Pippen, who is best known as Michael Jordan’s partner in crime during the Bulls six NBA championship runs, is claiming defamation of character in his filings with the U.S. District Court in Chicago. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, it’s a three-count suit that also claims negligence and false light. Pippen is seeking at least $9 million in damages.
 
The suit names Comcast Corp., CBS Corp., General Electric Co. and others.
