Al Roker Back Home Following Prostate Cancer Surgery
Al Roker is beginning his road to recovery. The Today Show weatherman updated his fans on his health, after he shared on Nov. 6 that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Roker took to his social media almost a week later with a positive update.
Posting a photo of himself, his wife Deborah Roberts and son Nicholas, 18, on his Instagram and Twitter accounts Roker said: “Relieved to let you all know that my #prostatecancer surgery is done and [I’m] back home.”
Dr. Vincent Laudone at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City performed the 66-year-old’s surgery, Today reports.
“Hope to see you all soon,” he concluded.
Roker announced his prostate cancer diagnosis during last Friday’s broadcast of Today. And said that wanted to go public with the news to raise awareness surrounding prostate cancer that affects one in nine men.
"It's a good news–bad news kind of thing," he said on Today. "Good news is we caught it early. Not great news is that it's a little aggressive, so I'm going to be taking some time off to take care of this."
