Isaac Hayes' Family Threatens $3 Million Lawsuit Against Donald Trump Over Unauthorized Use of ‘Hold On, I'm Coming’

The estate claims the former president used the song over 100 times in the last two years.

Donald Trump might be heading for more legal trouble. Isaac Hayes' family has threatened to sue the former president—their grievance stems from his continued use of the song "Hold On, I’m Coming" at his rallies, despite their repeated requests to stop.

On Sunday, the family of the late soul legend took to social media, giving Trump an ultimatum to comply with their demands by Friday. They are also seeking $3 million in licensing fees for the song’s use at Trump’s campaign events in 2022. The family claims the song was played 134 times by the Trump campaign during that time.

Attorney James Walker Jr., representing Hayes' family, has filed a copyright infringement notice, according to Action News 5.

“We’ve asked Donald Trump repeatedly to stop using the music, but he continues to disrespect the family, the legacy of Isaac Hayes, and his music, giving the family the middle finger,” Walker stated.

Earlier this week, Isaac Hayes III, the singer’s son, took to social media to rebut MAGA supporters who claimed Trump made the song relevant.

In a post with a reel showcasing the song’s legal uses in trailers and commercials, Hayes III wrote, “@_isaachayes wrote hundreds of songs and has been sampled thousands of times. ‘Hold On, I’m Coming’ is just one of many Isaac Hayes hits.”

He further commented, “The idea that Donald Trump has anything to do with a song that’s been a hit for over 58 years is laughable all the way to the bank.”
