All 54 Times Craig Mack Kicked Flava In Ya Ear
Fallen Bad Boy Records OG Craig Mack accomplished a feat nearly unheard of in hip-hop by using one track to smash one summer in just one year with “Flava In Ya Ear.”
The 1994 track received critical acclaim from the Recording Academy with a Grammy nod for Best Rap Solo Performance and topped Billboard’s Best-Selling Records of 1994 with one million copies sold and platinum certification. Mack’s abrasive, gritty lyricism on the infectious beat spread its wings not only among his rap peers (such as Notorious B.I.G. whose career broke out on the remixed version), but across the global music landscape as well.
“Flava In Ya Ear” migrated from the streets of Brooklyn, to national hip-hop hemispheres, to the R&B circle, and even gospel and afro-jazz. It’s rhythm and flow that Mack birthed in 1994 grew to survive even the most dynamic and ever-changing millennial rap era.
As should the rest of hip-hop, both seasoned and newcoming, BET Digital acknowledges and honors the impact and legacy of Craig Mack during his Bad Boy tenure. And to celebrate that, we’ve dug up about 54 songs where a sample of Mack’s timeless classic helped kick the flava in ya ear.
