Jay Z, Beyoncé Nab Webby Award Nominations
Jay Z and Beyoncé earned nominations at 18th Annual Webby Awards, the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences announced Tuesday (April 8).
Mr and Mrs. Carter won't have to worry about competing for the same trophy, though. Bey landed a nod in the Best Celebrity Site category and Hov was spotlighted for his Magna Carta Holy Grail marketing campaign with Samsung.
Pharrell's "24 Hours of Happy" — known as the first ever 24-hour music video — netted a Best Interactive Video nomination. The 41-year-old N.E.R.D. member faces off against Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone website in the category.
Webbie nominees include celebrities, media outlets and technology companies, all of which are voted on by the public. "This year's nominees really start to show the promise of a connected society, where our social interaction help shape and enable so much of our daily life," said Webby Awards executive director David-Michael Davies.
This year, the IADAS narrowed down some 12,000 entries from 60 different countries. Of those entries, 8 percent were chosen for the final list of nominees.
Winners wil be announced April 29.
