For Friday, Feb. 18, this week’s episode finds us with some freshly-discovered treasures for you, your family, and friends to get into + share with others. It contains a healthy dose of sonic vibes and, of course, something streaming that’s a feast for the eyes.

So bon appétit to all those true savants who are purveyors of content culture out there.

For Listeners Only:

Vince Staples is back and right on time. The Long Beach wunderkind connected with fellow West Coast staple Mustard on “Magic,” which was first featured in a Beats by Dre commercial with Naomi Osaka. For fans with taste and a love for dope MCs, this bit of new music from Vince Staples is welcomed since he dropped his self-titled EP last year.

With word coming down from on high that his next EP, Ramona Park Broke My Heart is “already done, save for a missing spot from the legend DJ Quik,” hip hop fans should be excited for when that comes together and a release date is announced.

A favorite here on This Weekend, Lucky Daye inches closer to his upcoming second album, Candy Drip, with his newest single “NWA.” Featuring his favorite rapper, Lil Durk, the duo flex their confident ability to attract women and to keep them happy while also sharing their love for the stickiest of the icky.

Daye, already one of the smoothest and most prominent R&B artists out right now, delivers earworm-esque grooves that ensure “NWA” will be stuck in your head long after you stop listening.” Press play on this refreshing collab and enjoy musically-lush grooves over the holiday weekend.

Saweetie and H.E.R. are bringing their sexiness into international waters with this collab titled “Closer.” The sultry, feel-good, get-ready-for-the-brunch-party jawn finds the two singing about wanting more intimacy with their partners and is especially special given that this marks the first time these two have worked together.

Between the Icy Queen’s playful lyrics and the Grammy- and Oscar Award-winning singer-songwriter’s catchy hook, you won’t be able to escape playing this one wherever you’re at. This is a surprising number to be excited for when Saweetie’s debut album, Pretty B***h Music readies its upcoming release.

Watch The Streams:

En Letra De Otro is an upcoming studio album and HBO Special coming from Colombian artist Gloria “Goyo” Martinez. A member of the Grammy-nominated trio, ChocQuibTown, Martinez is launching her solo career, and this in-depth look at her breakout, which will be available to stream on Friday, March 4, is a preview of what went into her debut solo single, “Na Na Na,” and how it feels to become a budding international superstar.

Transporting audiophiles to her native Condoto in Chocó, Colombia, En Letra De Otro offers glimpses into her history and influences in-between stunning and electrifying musical numbers and covers of personal favorites. If you’re ready to see pure vibrancy on your streams, then watching Goyo’s new special is one to add to your must-watch list, prontamente.

Inside The Black Box, a new Crackle docu-series, finds Emmy and NAACP winner Joe Morton partnering up with celebrity acting coach Tracey Moore to offer BIPOC young talent a chance to discuss the role race plays in the entertainment industry.

Each hour-long episode will highlight many of today’s prominent creatives of color while providing life lessons and history for cinephiles and viewers alike, as well as offering exercises taught by the likes of Phylicia Rashad and Raven-Symone. The series dropped Thursday, Feb. 17, and promises to impact those who are looking to achieve success in their respective fields.

As we turn the corner on Black History Month, Apple+ TV delves into the past to enrich viewers’ present with Lincoln’s Dilemma. The four-part saga finds us learning about Abraham Lincoln’s efforts to deal with the issue of slavery, involving rich detail of the late president’s character and that of the nation itself.

Featuring diverse perspectives on Lincoln’s complex journey to end slavery, Lincoln’s Dilemma features the voices of Jeffrey Wright (The Batman) and Leslie Odom, Jr. (One Night in Miami), and should be required watching for those who want to continue to do the work when it comes to unpacking and engaging with the racist past of this country.

Live at the Experience:

Raoul Peck is a national treasure whose social critique and documentarian status is recognized around the world. For Black History Month, it is imperative that you, your friends, and neighbors sit down and watch the director’s startling I Am Not Your Negro documentary film based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript, Remember This House.

A free virtual event taking place Feb. 18, hosted by Robert Kelleman and Film History Livestream will explore the history of racism in America through Baldwin’s recollections and personal observations. Narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, it was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 89th Academy Awards. The flick is likely to win the hearts and minds of anyone who is dedicated to creating more change and equality in this country for Black Americans.
