Melissa McCarthy Hilariously Played White House Press Sec. Sean Spicer On SNL And Everyone Lost It

We were screaming when she pulled out the prop boxes.

Melissa McCarthy as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has to be a running bit on Saturday Night Live after last night’s (February 4) episode.

It’s been a few weeks since the cast last poked fun at the Trump Administration, but it was worth the wait. McCarthy portrayed Spicer holding a press conference and absolutely nailed it. The bit mocked Sean Spicer’s combative attitude toward most of the mainstream media and the relationship between reporters and the new White House.

“When I say rocky start, I mean it in the sense of Rocky the movie. Because I came out here to punch you! In the face!” McCarthy yelled out at the beginning of the segment.

The real barrel of laughs came when Melissa McCarthy pulled out a pair of boxes and made fun of the props often used during Trump Administration press conferences. She pulled out various objects to represent her statements about the Muslim ban, among others.

Hilariously, the bit also featured a portrayal of proposed Education Secretary Betsy DeVos answering questions in the same uninformed manner she did during her congressional confirmation hearing.

Oh yeah, and we can’t forget the CNN reporter who was in a cage in the back corner of the room yelling, “We’re not fake news!”

Of course Twitter was going wild with all of this. “Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer was pitch perfect. & the DeVos portion of that sketch was gold, too. #SNL,” activist Deray McKesson wrote. “SNL has become the show of #TheResistance. Melissa McCarthy  as Sean Spicer was pure genius,, instant Emmy stuff,” another person tweeted.
