Will Smith, Jay Z Reunite for Miniseries About Emmett Till
The fellas behind the box-office hit, Annie are back.
Word is Will Smith and Jay Z have signed on to produce a miniseries about Emmett Till, whose memory has resonated since he was violently beaten to death in 1955 for allegedy flirting with a white woman.
He was 14.
Smith's and Jay's companies, Overbrook Entertainment and Roc Nation, respectively, are in partnership with that of Aaron Kaplan, according to Variety. Kaplan is known on the Hollywood circuit for such shows as Instant Mom (starring Tia Mowry-Hardict), The Neighbors, and The Mysteries of Laura.
Not much more is known as yet (like the title, whether or not it's a drama or a docu-style report, and who the musical/movie luminaries have in mind to write and direct it), but it is certain that it will air on HBO, where Jay and Mrs. Carter premiered their On The Run concert tour special.
