Eminem Eviscerates New Orleans Quarterback Drew Brees In New Single With Kid Cudi

The two MC’s have a lot to say about plenty of topics including the coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter.

Kid Cudi was back again with another single featuring Eminen, aptly titled “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady,” and both MC’s came packing a punch. They did not hold back on blasting the current state of affairs in the U.S.

  • The release dropped at the stroke of midnight on Friday (June 10) accompanied by an animated video embedded with social commentary on topical issues related to racial injustice, the police killing of Black people in America, those who refuse to wear masks in spite of the coronavirus pandemic, and more.

Over a Dot Da Genius instrumental, Kid Cudi kicks off the song reintroducing himself, rapping, “Yeah, it’s been a minute, but I’m back in it / You ain’t dealing with the same boy,” followed by a brief reference to a stint in rehab.

  • Eminem comes in next where he delivers blistering words for NFL star Drew Brees, rapping “That’s New Orleans, f**k Drew Brees.”

As you may recall, the New Orleans quarterback apologized after facing backlash for criticizing athletes who kneeled during the playing of the National Anthem before games, calling the act “disrespectful.”

Further into his verse Em broached the coronavirus pandemic with a thinly-veiled shot at Donald Trump, rapping “Bunch of half-wits up in office  / Half us walking around like a zombie apocalypse / Other half are just pissed off and don’t want to wear a mask.” The Detroit MC also railed against “dirty cops” in a condemnation of the police killing of Black people in America. Sending his “prayers to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery,” the Detroit MC questioned “how the f**k is it that so many cops are dirty?”

  • “The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady” marks Kid Cudi’s third release in 2020 following “Leader of the Delinquents and his collaboration with Travis Scott, “The Scotts.” Outside of music, it was recently revealed that the California native alongside Kanye West will be voicing characters in the upcoming Takashi Murakami-directed animated show, Kids See Ghosts, which is inspired by their 2018 collaborative album of the same name. Later this year, Cudi will appear on HBO’s We Are Who We Are, which is set to air in September.

In January, Eminem made his musical return with Music to Be Murdered By, his tenth studio album. Included on the release is the track “Darkness,” where he reenacted the 2017 Las Vegas shooting at the Route 91 music festival in call to action for gun reform in America.
