Damn: DJ Khaled Got Booed Off Stage in Las Vegas
What was supposed to be a jam-worthy DJ Khaled set at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas on Sunday (June 18) ended in disappointment for the Grateful album creator and concertgoers alike after sound technical issues cut his appearance short.
In several clips shared by fans and Khaled alike, we see him addressing fans and the sound team from the stage, explaining his discontent with the handling of the sound issues. He makes several attempts to keep the EDC crowd energized as the team works out the issues, checking in and reminding fans that the technical tackles are the direct cause for his lack of performance.
“Are we ready to go?” he asked the sound team behind him. “This is ridiculous. When I come on stage, sound should be perfect. I got millions of fans ready to see me.”
Afterward, he lets fans know that despite the sound issues ruining his performance, he’s going to stay put.
“Let me explain something,” he said. “If this s**t would have happened to another artist, DJ, they would have walked and ran. Me, I’m going to stay right here until they get the s**t right.”
Unfortunately, his performance still ended up in defeat and several fans took to Twitter claiming that he was booed off the stage. It didn’t take long for Khaled to clear the claims up though, explaining that “they” sabotaged his sound on set and purposely cut his set short. Additionally, he elaborated in the Instagram captions of videos from the failed performance that it’s nothing but love.
“They cut my time short and they had me [backstage] for an hour and [a] half and the sound kept breaking,” Khaled explained. “Then I heard my fans and I said ‘I’m [going to go] out even if the sound cuts off and even if they cut my time short.”
