Tiffany Haddish Reveals That Jada Pinkett Told Her To Stop Buying Knockoff Handbags
Dreams really do come true for some and that’s exactly what’s been happening for comedian Tiffany Haddish since she got her big break in Girls Trip blockbuster.
Making her debut appearance on W magazine’s May 2018 cover, the once homeless star is draped in couture fashions that probably cost triple if not double the average American’s mortgage. Radiant in red, Haddish stuns in a dramatic bow-tie Valentino haute couture gown. In fact, her entire spread is filled with haute couture designs by top luxury designers including Giambattista Valli, Chanel, Givenchy and more. Talk about a glow up.
But don’t get it twisted. Just because she’s on a significant come up doesn’t mean she’s shying away from her truth. Being real AF about her choice of fashions in her interview with W mag, Tiffany spills the tea on her “purse theory.” Haddish explains that while she was on set of Girls Trip she “had a knockoff Michael Kors bag that said MLK instead of MK,” and that Jada Pinkett told her that she “shouldn’t have knockoff stuff.” That doesn’t mean she listened though.
She told her fellow co-star, “my philosophy is, whatever the bag costs, I should be able to keep that amount of cash in the bag. If it’s a $300 purse, I have to put $300 in cash in that purse. I do not want a bag that is more expensive than the cash I have to put in it.”
A rule that everyone should live by tbh.
She continued by saying, “Things are going good for me now, so I am graduating to your Fendis and your Guccis. But I better have the cash equivalent, or I’m not buying the purse. And if things start to go wrong, I’m going right back to my knockoffs. When you’re somebody like me, who’s been homeless, clothes are not that important. Clothes are not a roof over my head, food in my stomach, my family’s health—that’s what money is for. But fashion helps get more money. So, we ride.”
Can we get an amen? This is the realest philosophy we’ve ever heard.
And we don’t think the comedian’s glow up will be slowing down anytime soon considering she was just named one of TIME magazine’s most influential people of the year and has several opportunities at her finger tips.
So those Guccis and Fendis should continue to match her pockets. Keep thriving, boo!
