John Amos' Daughter Shannon's GoFundMe Removed Amid Abuse Claims

The 83-year-old actor was recently hospitalized and his two children have been publicly sparring over his care.

Actor John Amos, best known for his role as James Evans on the 1970s comedy, Good Times, was recently hospitalized in Memphis, Tenn., while working on a documentary.

His son K.C. has been sharing videos and messages to the actor's social media account providing fans with updates on his condition.

Amid his illness, his daughter Shannon launched a GoFundMe, writing, “The past two weeks shattered our world. My dad, a victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation. We are collaborating with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and local authorities, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. Legal assistance is crucial to ensure their prosecution and protect my father's future. His home, stripped bare, necessitates a safe space for his return,"

However, in a video, Amos said, “She would be the primary suspect — if you would,” John claimed in the video filmed from his hospital bed. “I don’t know if that’s the right term to use or not. But she’s the one that I would attribute my elderly abuse to. It’s definitely a case of elderly abuse," Amos said. He also disavowed the GoFundMe that Shannon created and said that all funds would be returned.

PEOPLE is reporting that the GoFundMe has been removed.

As of Sunday morning, the page is no longer available to view after receiving up to $13,000 in donations.

Amos has told PEOPLE that he was "doing well." He added, "To all of my fans, I want to share this video with you to show you that I am not in the distressed condition as described in the GoFundMe page," he said.

"I am not in ICU, nor was I ever fighting for my life," John added. "... I want the GoFundMe campaign about me to stop immediately and the funds subsequently returned to those who made donations. My son and I will reveal more information at the appropriate time."

Shannon has also released a statement through a representative saying, "Ms. Amos is disheartened at the continuation of false and defamatory statements being made against her by, or on behalf of, or in connection with news reports based on social media posts by Mr. Kelly K.C. Amos. ... She is exploring all legal remedies available to her. Ms. Amos hopes this matter will be resolved soon through the proper authorities."

Actress BernNadette Stanis commented on the conflict involving her former TV dad, telling PEOPLE, "John knows I love him from the core of my heart. His children were lovely and have always been lovely. It just happened so that when you have a parent that you have to take care of or they're aging, there's a lot of fear amongst the siblings because you don't know — it's the first time and maybe the only parent. It hurts."
