‘True To The Game' Is Officially One Of The Biggest Indie Films Of the Year
Congrats are in order for the cast and crew of True to the Game. The film, based on New York Times best selling author, Teri Woods’ novel, opened as the number one independent film in the box office.
Directed by Preston A. Whitemore II and produced by Manny Halley, True to the Game chronicles Philadelphia drug dealer Quadir Richards’ (Columbus Short) journey as he romances fellow Philly native Gena Rollins (Erica Peoples).
A first time film producer Halley gushed, “True to the Game was the first movie I financed, produced and distributed. It was the hardest thing I did in my career but the most rewarding.”
Grossing a reported $472,000 its opening weekend, True to the Game also stars Vivica A. Fox, Draya Michele, Andra Fuller and the late Nelsan Ellis.
Reflecting on her on set experience, Vivica A. Fox gushed, “Working with 1st-time producer Manny Halley on True To The Game was AWESOME! I've known him for many years! He's excellent at making thangs happen!”
