Alicia Keys celebrated her Keep a Child Alive organization’s 8th Annual Black Ball last night and in an effort to raise as much money as possible, she donated the bracelets right off her arm to benefit the cause!
The singer and philanthropist arrived wearing Fred Leighton bracelets, a sparkly Stella McCartney top and cream tuxedo jacket, black Gucci pants and gold-detailed Luis Vuitton heels. Fred Leighton is planning to make a range of bracelets like the ones Alicia wore and auctioned, with 30 percent of the proceeds going to Keep a Child Alive.
Alicia’s husband, Swizz Beatz, showed his support and posed with his wife on the red carpet in a contrasting black suit.
“When you do something with purpose and meaning it will come through, even if you think it might not, and I think that’s something that I’ve consistently learned over the years,” Alicia told reporters while reflecting over her organization’s efforts. “I’ve learned that a small group can do a lot.”
Especially when that “small group” is a roundup of famous friends! Keys tapped Usher, will.i.am, Jay Sean, Nora Jones, Richie Sambora and Gary Clark Jr. to perform for the night and Kerry Washington, Common, Serena Williams, Tyra Banks, Chanel Iman, and La La and Carmelo Anthony all came out to support. The star-studded evening raised $3 million for AIDS treatment in Africa and India.
