Here's How Cardi B Was Nearly Eaten By A Cheetah On Set Of Her "Bodak Yellow" Video
Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” single may have been all anyone was ever talking about in 2017, but apparently there was a lot more blood, sweat, and fear that went into creating the song than many of us thought. We're specifically talking about the track’s poppin’ music video — it turns out Cardi nearly died while creating the visuals.
The video’s director, Picture Perfect, told the story of Cardi’s near-death experience on GENIUS. According to the director, it all started when Cardi decided to cast the fastest animal in the wild in her video. One scene in particular captured Cardi rapping next to the cheetah. “We shot this scene we didn’t use, and he attacked Cardi in that scene,” Picture Perfect said.
In the accompanying behind-the-scenes video, Cardi is seen doing her thing. But as she gets more into the song, the cheetah jumps up scaring the rapper.
“No, no, no, come hold him,” she yells to her team. In another scene, Cardi is lounging with a different cheetah. Luckily, that one didn’t try to attack her since it has already gotten his feeding for the day. “We got her spirits back up … and this cheetah right here is not the other cheetah from the other scene,” Picture Perfect continued. “This cheetah right here he’s eaten about six pounds of deer meat at this time, and he’s just calm.”
Obviously, they cut out the scene of the cheetah trying to eat Cardi. But next time, she may want to rethink which wild animals she recruits on set of her music videos. Watch the frightening footage below.
