Janet Jackson's Onstage Milly Rock Proves That She's Still the Ultimate Dance Icon
Following the birth of her firstborn son and taking some well-deserved time off to focus on her new motherhood and personal health, pop music and entertainment mogul Janet Jackson is back to hit the stage on her State of the World Tour.
And with her return, she hit the Milly Rock for fans, too, just in case anyone needs a reminder of the Damita Jo legacy transcending across every generation thus far.
In the clip, posted to The Shade Room, Janet struts in a trendy, black jumpsuit in front of her sharply synchronized troupe of onstage dancers.
As they jam out to her 1986 smash hit “Nasty,” she serves classic Janet moves as fans go insane — as they should. In an untraditional twist, a hip-hop interruption breaks into the beat and she whips up a mean Milly Rock that takes the crowd’s energy from zero to 100 in no time flat.
That’s also the perfect energy to the kickoff of the Control songstress’s tour as well, which all went down in Louisiana on Thursday (September 7). Legging through a whopping 56 cities, Janet will throw down even more moves across the U.S., including Baltimore, L.A., Las Vegas, Cleveland, Atlanta and many more cities. For Houston fans, however, she’s got something special up her sleeve. Following the catastrophic Hurricane Harvey that dismantled the city, Janet revealed that she’d be landing in H-Town early to visit shelters and unveil her surprise for the disaster’s victims as well.
