FKA Twigs Trial Date Set For Lawsuit Against Shia LaBeouf
A date has finally been set for the civil case between FKA Twigs and Shia Labeouf, who is suing her former lover alleging “relentless abuse, sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress.”
The date is set for April 17, 2023, according to Rolling Stone.
BET.com previously reported that the singer first discussed the situation when she sat with Gayle King last year.
“He would just start having an argument with me in the middle of the night and start accusing me of doing all sorts of things [like] planning to leave him in my head,” she told King.
“He’d wake me up to tell me I was disgusting, that I was vile. It’s a tactic that a lot of abusers use. It’s this constant availability and everything centered around them. And I think, you know, that’s why I wanted to come out and talk about this. Because the signs really are there from the beginning.”
Added Twigs’ lawyer Bryan Freedman, “The gaslighting has gone on long enough here and it’s time to hold Shia LaBeouf accountable.”
The lawsuit claims that Twigs, real name Tabitha Barnett, alleges LaBeouf didn’t like it if she spoke to or even looked at other men and had rules concerning how many times a day she had to kiss and touch him. He also didn’t let her wear clothing to bed, turned small disagreements into all-night fights, and kept a loaded firearm by the bed.
In a statement from his lawyers in 2021, the Even Stevens alum denies inflicting any harm to his former beau, claiming she’s not “entitled to any relief or damages whatsoever.”
