Snoop Dogg Steps Forward To Clear Up Confusion Over Lovers & Friends Fest And Say It’s Legit

The event organizers unveiled their first lineup, which has raised suspicious eyes.

Just when things couldn’t get anymore confusing, Snoop Dogg has stepped forward to vouch for the legitimacy of the Lovers & Friends music festival and clear up any confusion.

  • On Tuesday (Feb. 18), promotion company Goldenvoice unveiled a flyer for its first-ever lineup of the upcoming one-day experience. It was a beast of a lineup with acts hip-hop and R&B fans would only rarely see on stage at the same event.

A mixture of old and new acts were reportedly billed to perform at the festival, including Lauryn Hill, Usher, Ludacris, Lil Jon, TLC, Jhené Aiko, Summer Walker, Megan Thee Stallion, Nelly, Sean Paul, T-Pain, Brandy, Monica, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Lil Kim, Saweetie, Twista, Tweet, Mike Jones, Cam’ron, Foxy Brown, and Montell Jordan.

  • Purportedly set to take place in Los Angeles, the flyer showcased that the event was going to be held on “the grounds at Dignity Health Sports Park” in Carson, California on May 9. Many fans quickly remarked the suddenness of the whole affair was bringing back memories of the disastrous Fyre Festival in 2017. Doubt over the validity of the enterprise grew after some of the artists listed as part of the lineup reacted on social media.

Lil Kim reposted the flyer to her Instagram Stories where she denied any involvement. “This is SO FAKE! I am not a part of this,” she alerted her fans. Similarly, Ma$e sent event organizers his best wishes but asked them to disassociate his name from the music event festival. Furthermore, fans noticed that Megan Thee Stallion is supposed to be performing at Broccoli City Fest, which is held in Washington, D.C. every year, that same day. Thus far, Twista is the only artist to have confirmed he is performing at the festival. However, he claims he hasn’t been paid his deposit.

  • As all of this was going down on social media, Snoop Dogg revealed that he was one of the booking agents for the music festival and maintained that the music festival is the real deal.  As for Lil Kim, the West Coast rap icon disclosed that he thought he was in communication with people from Lil Kim’s camp when booking her. But seeing the dispute, he invited Kim to reach out to him directly so they can work out getting her added to the lineup.

He ended with a message for people interested in the music festival: “Make sure you get your tickets because that s**t is going to go real fast. You seen [sic] the list.”

  • However, fans are calling for more evidence before they part with their money.

“I need @Soulection @Usher @Ludacris @OfficialTLC @MsLaurynHill and more to confirm,” one fan commented on Twitter.
“Twista, Lil Kim & Mase all said they don't know these people so…,” a second voiced.

“Lovers and Friends Festival..... are you a real festival or not?” a third questioned.

Only time will reveal the truth.
