See Cardi B Transform Into An Elegant Princess For The Diamond Ball
Cardi B is living her best life these days. With the artist attending multiple shows during NYFW, performing at Alexander Wang’s after-party and “Bodak Yellow” being featured on multiple runways — Cardi can now add attending Rih-Rih’s Diamond Ball to her success list.
Cardi, styled by Kollin Carter, wore an off-the-shoulder, icy-teal ball gown by Christian Siriano, who has been responsible for many of the artist’s looks, including her white jumpsuit at the VMA’s. We spoke exclusively to Christian Siriano about working with Cardi and the look she wore to the ball last night, and here’s what he had to say:
“She is lovely to work with and loves fashion and, more importantly, is willing to take risks, which makes it exciting for a designer like myself as we get to play dress up and not worry about rules! The gown she wore last night was from my resort collection that I customized for her… not everyone can wear a gown like that, but she needed a princess moment so we gave her one!”
Yes, you did, Siriano! Cardi’s dramatic ball gown reminded us of Disney princesses Belle of Beauty and the Beast and Tiana of The Princess and the Frog, bringing back major nostalgic vibes. Indeed, this just might be a fairytale for the 24-year-old Bronx native.
During her walk on the red carpet, Cardi was asked, “What do you love most about Rihanna?” to which she answered, “Do you see how she look, do you see how she sang? Oh, and she’s from the Caribbean Island.” Spot on — basically what we all love about the “bad girl.” Cardi and Rihanna actually had a slightly #twinning moment, sharing a full skirt, off the shoulder, and sweetheart neckline details in both their looks.
Seriously, Cardi’s glow-up is amazing, and Christian Siriano revealed just how humble the star is. Not only did he share details regarding Cardi’s look last night but also explained how much he loves his fittings with the “Bodak Yellow” singer and that they’ve had some “nice, very real moments,” in which designer says, “You can tell she has a lot on her plate but wants to make an impression” and that “she works hard and takes it seriously.”
We love a good hustle story, and not that we weren’t already rooting for Cardi, but this just makes us want her to win even more. Go ahead, girl, keep making “money moves,” because we are here for it!
