Woman In Custody For Shooting Death Of 42-Year-Old Brooklyn Mom Delia Johnson
After three months, a suspect is in custody for the Aug. 4 killing of 42-year-old Delia Johnson, a mother from Brooklyn, New York.
On Nov. 8, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea announced Claudia Banton, 42, was taken into custody in Jacksonville, Florida. A motive is unknown but it is believed Banton and Johnson knew each other.
Shea wrote on Twitter, “You can run, but the long arm of the law will find you. The woman responsible for the August 4th murder of a #Brooklyn woman has been apprehended by our partners in Jacksonville, Florida.”
According to WCBS-TV, surveillance footage from Aug. 4 showed a woman walking up to Johnson and shooting her at point-blank range. The woman drove off in a white SUV.
Johnson’s mother told WCBS-TV in August, “I never dreamed of losing any of my children to this kind of violence.”
The investigation is ongoing.
