Billy Porter is speaking out after announcing in July that he and his husband, Adam Smith, decided to end their marriage after six years.

On August 4, the Pose alum opened up about his divorce with the Evening Standard while in London, as reported by Pop Sugar. “The whole world knows I’m getting a divorce! Y’all want to talk about my divorce and Ricky Martin’s at the same time?” he quips. At the time of this interview, Porter was also in the same city in which he proposed to Smith in 2016.

“Relationships are hard. I will always love him. We made it as far as we could. But we learn, we grow and we live," he continued.

Now, Porter is ready for what lies ahead. He shared, “And I’m looking forward to the next... adventure.”

And, he is manifesting his future is true Porter style. "She's back on the market! Looking for an English huzzzband! And you have to spell it just like that! Huzzzband!"

On July 5, PEOPLE exclusively confirmed that the couple had decided to go their separate ways. "The decision was an amicable and mutual one and was made after much consideration. They continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter. There will be no further comment from either parties and it would be appreciated if their privacy be respected,” said Porter’s rep Simon Hall in a statement.

The duo met in 2009 at a dinner party but split after one year of dating. Following a five-year break, they married on January 14, 2017, two weeks after the actor proposed to Smith in London on December 29, 2016, as reported by the outlet.

For Porter, getting married was something he didn’t think would happen, but ultimately became a milestone he would cherish for the rest of his life. He admitted, "I didn’t think I needed it. I lived with this idea that it just wasn’t for us. So when we went to get our marriage license the other day, the act of that was so powerful in a way that crept up on the both of us, and it just grounded that moment."
