Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s highly anticipated collaborative project, Vultures, will be released in three volumes.
According to Variety, the highly anticipated album which has experienced numerous date changes and setbacks, the first edition is scheduled for Feb. 9.
March 8 is the release date for the second volume, followed by the third installment on April 5. With West’s history of postponements and last-minute project changes, the dates could always be changed.
On Tuesday (Jan. 23), West and Dolla $ign released a trailer for Vultures on social media. Directed by Jon Rafman, the video shows footage of a clown seated in a car, wolves howling at the Moon, a tongue sticking out of an unzipped face mask, a burning home, and more eerie imagery.
According to Complex, the album cover is Burzum-inspired art for all three volumes, and the font is said to have connections to murderer and neo-Nazi Varg Vikerne. Edited for the album cover, the actual photograph is derived from the work of Caspar David Friedric, whose work was co-opted by Nazis almost a century after his death, and is one of West’s inspirations.
Speculation about a West and Ty Dolla $ign project first began when the Chicago producer shared some of his latest music during a listening session in Italy in October and the duo reportedly had plans to debut the project later that month along with a concert at an undisclosed location.
In December, West played a rough copy of the album during a listening session in Miami, and Kodak Black, Playboi Carti, Chris Brown, and Freddie Gibbs are all featured.
On the final version of “New Body,” Nicki Minaj makes a guest appearance but has since stated that she will not approve of her verse on the song for an official release.
