Warren G Focuses on Health in Wake of Nate Dogg’s Death
When Warren G reflects on the loss of his close friend Nate Dogg, the veteran rapper thinks about what he could have done differently in the days before Nate’s death.
In an interview with BET.com, G says he probably would have made slight changes in his touring schedule to spend more time with his longtime musical partner.
“I used to go see him a lot,” Warren recalls of visiting Nate in the hospital. “I was on the road with Snoop [Dogg] and we came home. I didn’t get a chance to go see him because we had to leave right back out. [Nate’s death] happened while we were on the road. I was really messed up over it, but you know I’m straight now. I’m just trying to stay strong, make sure his family is OK.”
Nate Dogg passed away on March 15 due to complications related to congestive heart failure, and the tragedy had an especially profound effect on how the G-Child views his own health. “I try to go to [the doctor] as much I can," Warren says. “Whenever I do anything ... I take a trip to the doctor and get physicals and stuff. I would’ve been on that with [Nate], too.”
The 213 band member says if he was granted a few more moments with the fallen hip-hop star, he definitely would have emphasized a healthier living. “First I’d tell him I love him,” Warren says. “Then I’d really have been on him about eating healthy and going to the doctor and stuff.”
As previously reported, Warren G has an all-star video in the works for his Nate Dogg tribute song, “This Is Dedicated to You.”
