This Week In Good Black News: Vince Staples Debuts New Show, Tiger Woods Launches Apparel Line, and Usher Gets Married
1. Vince Staples Premiers New Show
While he’s regarded as one of the top rappers since his debut, Vince Staples is showing the world his full bag of talent with the release of his new show. Following appearances on Episode 01: So What, Emmy-winning series “Abbot Elementary,” and in “Rick Famuyiwa,” Staples premiered “The Vince Staples Show” on Thursday (Feb.15) on Netflix. The five-part series details his adventurous journey as “a kind of famous, kind of rich, kind of criminal (but not really) rapper.” In an interview with BET.com, Staples explained the creative freedom he enjoyed while making the show.
“They left it in my hands to do whatever I wanted to do and then told me what works and doesn’t work on television,” Staples said.“I just made sure that I found a medium between what I wanted to do and what worked for the medium itself.”
2. Jess Hilarious Pregnancy
Comedian Jess Hilarious has announced that she is expecting her second child. The newest host of"The Breakfast Club" shared the exciting news during the show. When her boyfriend Chris called to wish her a happy 32nd birthday, he inadvertently let the audience know that the couple is looking forward to their newest addition.
“I'm so excited for our little bundle of joy," which caused Jess to laugh.
“A little bundle of what?" Charlamagne tha God asked as DJ Envy wanted more information.
On her Instagram, Jess shared the clip of her announcement and thanked everyone for their support.
"Love is in the air over here 🥹," she captioned the post. "This feeling is blissfully amazing ❤️ I wish it for everybody 😌🙏🏾."
3. Tiger Woods New Clothing Line
After being one of the faces of Nike for almost 30 years, golf legend Tiger Woods ended his relationship with the apparel brand. On Monday (Feb. 12), Woods announced his new apparel and lifestyle brand, Sun Day Red in Pacific Palisades, Calif. In the announcement, Woods shared that he will always wear his signature red but now with a new twist.
"I've worn red on Sundays. It started with mom. Mom thought being a Capricorn, that my color was red. I wore red as a junior golfer, and won some tournaments,” Woods explained. ”I went to a university that was red. Stanford is red...it's just become synonymous with me. That's who I am, Sun Day Red.”
The brand is launching its men's line first and plans on expanding with women's and kids' apparel lines soon.

4. Mo’Nique Joining Katt Williams On Tour
Following an unforgettable appearance on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay," Academy-Award-winning comedian/actress Mo'Nique will be joining Emmy-winning comedian Katt Williams on his national comedy tour. Along with her husband and manager, Sidney Hicks, Mo’Nique shared the announcement on her Instagram.
“I cannot wait to see y’all, Connecticut,” she spoke of her first date on stage. “I’ll see y’all tomorrow night with our brother, Katt Williams. All over New York with our brother Katt Williams," she elaborated. "And I’ll say this, too—and I told him this: I said for as funny and as talented as you are, your heart is far bigger.”
Mo has already performed in New York and Connecticut, with more dates to follow.
5. Usher Gets Married
After an incredible Super Bowl Halftime Performance, Usher reportedly married his girlfriend Jennifer "Jenn" Goicoechea right before hitting the stage. According to numerous reports, the marriage license was obtained in Clark County, Nevada on Thursday (Feb. 8).
Usher and Goicoechea first met in 2019 when they spotted each other at the same birthday party. They are parents to daughter Sovereign Bo, 3, and son, Sire Castrello, 2. The eight-time Grammy winner is also father to Usher "Cinco" Raymond V, 16, and Naviyd Ely, 15, from a previous relationship.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Usher gushed about his love for Goicoechea.
"I have an amazing partner, a support system," he said. "We have an amazing dynamic between our relationship where I'm able to be passionate still about what I do and have an incredible partner to work through some of the harder times as a young man dealing with children."
