‘Donda 2’ Listening Party: Kanye West Throws Mic In Frustration
Kanye West’s Donda 2 listening party was quite an event at Miami’s Depot Park Stadium on Tuesday evening (Feb. 22) but despite a few technical difficulties, visible frustrations from the rapper due to audio issues and starting more than two hours to behind schedule Ye still put on a show.
Streaming from his YouTube page, the first half of his performance went fairly smooth, the second half was a little rocky at times.
And it was clear that the rapper was upset after he threw his mic on the ground when the sound was glitching as his Donda tracks “Hurricane,” featuring Lil Baby and The Weeknd, and “Jail” featuring DaBaby played.
Regardless of the hiccups, West still appeased his loyal fan base by surprising viewers and attendees with appearances of his star-studded features on his Donda project including The Game (“Eazy”); Migos (“Kid We Did It”); Pusha T (“Diet Coke”); Jack Harlow (“Louis Bags”); DaBaby (“Jail”); Alicia Keys (“City Of Gods”); Fivio Foreign (“City Of Gods” and “Off the Grid”); and Playboi Carti (“Off the Grid”).
West’s Sunday Service Choir also made a special appearance.
A recreation of Ye’s childhood Chicago home took up a large part of the arena, with fires blazing as the rapper appeared to walk on water while performing.
Other unforgettable moments from the listening event included a sample of ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s SNL monologue from October 2021, where she called him “the best rapper of all time” and the “richest Black man in America.”
