Former NBA point guard Mookie Blaylock was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday for vehicular homicide in the death of Monica Murphy, a mother of five, in a head-on collision in Atlanta's Clayton County back in May 2013.

Although Blaylock's sentence was for 15 years, under his negotiated plea deal, he will only be required to spend three years in prison and complete eight years of probation. That, however, is contingent on Blaylock completing 1,500 hours of community service, alcoholism treatment and not driving for the entire 15 years, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting. 

Blaylock, 47, had been suffering from seizures at the time of last year's fatal crash and had been ordered by a doctor not to drive.

Blaylock enjoyed a 13-year NBA career — mostly with the Hawks from 1992-99 — including a 1994 All-Star selection in which he averaged 17.4 points and nearly six assists per game. He last played with the Golden State Warriors from 1999-2002.
