A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at New York’s Riverside Church for poet-singer Gil Scott-Heron, who died Friday in New York at age of 62.

There will also be a public viewing from 6-9 p.m. at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel on 81st Street and Madison Avenue in New York City.

He recorded his seminal work "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" for his 1970 album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox. He later recorded the poem/song with a full band and it was the B-side to Scott-Heron's first single, "Home Is Where the Hatred Is," from the album Pieces of a Man.
