DJ Akademiks Claims Drake Asked Him To End His Beef With SZA
Drake had his hand in DJ Akademiks’ beef with SZA – more specifically, he tried his best to get the streamer and blogger to end it with the acclaimed singer.
During an interview with Vlad TV, Ak claims the Toronto rapper called him personally to squash his differences with his friend. He says this then led to a truce with the SOS artist.
“When Drake called me [about SZA] I was like [what?!]” he described. “Drake was like, she’s a very close friend of his. It was a very friendly call. He was just kind of trying to see what I thought about it because he was like, ‘Ak, I rock with you too.’ They were doing the album at the time and he was like, ‘She’s affected by things like that.’

He continued: “And I guess he was just like, ‘There’s gotta be some middle ground here,’ and I just was like, ‘Honestly, that was an axe I had to grind from a couple years ago. I got it off and I don’t got no issue with her.’ And I actually went back on my platform and said, ‘Listen I’m sending you nothing but love and light and I’ll continue to do so.”
DJ Akademiks’ beef with SZA began in August when he launched into a horrifically misogynistic tirade about her body shape, hair, and more, criticizing everything about her appearance.
Subsequently, Punch of TDE, the label SZA’s signed to, chimed in, tweeting: “Man I’ve been so conflicted the [past] couple of days as to address this dude publicly or not. I’m not playing no internet games… He have to answer for those disrespectful things he said about SZA.”
This led to a back-and-forth of words between Punch and Akademiks, which ended with the latter claiming he was not afraid of the former.
