BET Awards 2017 | Behind the Lights of Post Malone

Find out some facts about Post Malone!
  1. Country Music's Next Big Thing?

Yup, that's right. Country music. It might come as a surprise to some, but Post Malone allegedly wants to move toward country and rock music instead of hip-hop. The "White Iverson" rapper has grown up appreciating all different genres of music. In an interview last year with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, XXL editor-in-chief Vanessa Satten stated, “We were told by his camp that he wasn’t paying attention to hip-hop so much. He was going in more of a rock, pop, country direction." Though this statement was made to Satten, we still have hope that he remains in the hip-hop scene.

  2. He's Also a Guitarist

Not only does Post Malone know how to write and produce his own records, he also knows how to play the guitar! It's said that the game Guitar Hero first inspired him and helped him to learn how to play the guitar.

  3. Band Member Dreams

Before his fame in the rap game, Malone used his guitar playing skills to audition for different bands. Initially, Malone wanted to be a member of a band and would try out for different groups all around Dallas, Texas. We wonder how different his career would be if that was the avenue he chose.

After being discovered, Malone was under the mentorship of record production and songwriting duo FKi. The duo has worked with artists like 2 Chainz and Travis Porter. The team agreed to work with Malone after noticing his talents stretched from not just rapping but also singing. Post Malone is definitely a talented artist.

  6. Certified Gold!

If you didn't already know, the rapper's debut album, Stoney, was certified gold by the RIAA earlier this year! That deserves a major "Congratulations!"

  7. Mixtape Time

While most students are preparing for their sweet 16 or 16th birthday parties, Post Malone was busy working on his mixtape. At the age of 16, he wrote and produced his first mixtape, which was well received by his peers at school. After this, he worked on his next mixtape, August 26th, before dropping his album, Stoney.

  9. Post Malone's Start

If it weren't for his father, there might not be a Post Malone. The rapper credits his father as the reason why he fell in love with music and the different genres he exposed him to. His father worked for the Dallas Cowboys but still found time to introduce Malone to an array of music.

  10. On the Map

Post Malone's hit single "White Iverson" was actually written two days before he recorded the track. The song went on to really put Malone on the map. Also, just this year, Post Malone was finally able to meet the real Allen Iverson! Talk about meeting your idol!
