Carmelo Anthony Traded To The Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder will send Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a second-round pick to New York.

The New York Knicks have reportedly agreed to trade All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder for two players and a draft pick.

According to ESPN, the Knicks will receive center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick, league sources said.

The 33-year-old will waive his no-trade clause and his $8.1 million trade kicker in order for the deal to go forward. The deal is scheduled to be closed Monday during a trade call. Anthony also plans to arrive that same day to take a physical and participate in practice on Tuesday when the Thunder open training camp.

Carmelo Anthony will join league MVP Russell Westbrook and All-Star Paul George in OKC. With the trade, the team has now become the front-runners to compete with the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference in 2017/18.

After next season, both Paul George and Russell Westbrook have the option of testing the free agent market and their team’s success in the upcoming season will heavily weigh on their future decision.
