Actress Danielle Deadwyler has been a hot topic of conversation after being snubbed from the 2023 Oscar nominations for her portrayal of Mamie Till-Mobley in the feature film Till.
Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Deadwyler received her first graduate degree from Columbia University in American Studies, her Masters of Fine Arts in Poetry and Creative Writing from Ashland University in Ohio and graduated from Spelman College with degrees in History and African American Studies.
In 2012, she kicked off her screen debut in the 2012 film A Cross To Bear. Since then, the now 40-year-old has received Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA nominations, NAACP Image Award wins and nominations and two Gotham Award wins, cementing her extensive and notable career.

Playing Cuffee, the mysterious doorman at Stagecoach Mary’s (played by Zazie Beetz) saloon, Deadwyler portrayed a frontier woman based on US Army Buffalo soldier Private Cathay Williams, who disguises herself as a man.
The Devil To Pay
In this American indie thriller, Deadwyler plays a struggling mother who must protect her son after the disappearance of her husband which comes down to a face off with a local powerful family.

From Scratch
The actress also co-starred alongside Zoe Saldana in this Netflix series, inspired by a true story and follows Houston native Tembi Locke in a reenacted memoir of the love and loss of her husband, where she ultimately finds healing in the warmth of his mother's Sicilian kitchen.
