Welp, Justin Timberlake Could Be Looking at Jail Time

He's currently under investigation.

The psychological desire to take a photo of oneself and post it to social media, i.e. selfie culture, may temporarily costing Justin Timberlake his freedom.

The pop star recently flew from Los Angeles to his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, to take advantage of early voting. Consequently, his promotional post encouraging others to get out and vote when they have the opportunity may have been against the law.

As reported, after posting the photo, which clearly depicts him casting a ballot while in a private voting area, to his 37 million followers, the 35-year-old has found himself at the center of a criminal investigation.

Last year, Tenn. Gov. Bill Haslam signed a bill prohibiting photos or videos inside poling places. As part of the law, however, he granted that phones may be used for "informational purposes to assist the voter in making election decisions." The law was set in place as a way to prevent voter fraud and intimidation as well as keep private information confidential.

While Timberlake and his selfie are currently under review, a rep from the Shelby County District Attorney's office shared that the penalty of violating this specific law is up to 30 days in jail and a $50 fine.
