The reboot of Murder, She Wrote is DOA. Octavia Spencer was tapped to take over Angela Lansbury's iconic role in the modern-day version of the 1980s classic mystery series, but NBC has killed the project, according to Deadline.com.
The reboot was announced last October, with Spencer as the lead character, a hospital administrator who works as an amateur detective and fiction writer. The original series, which ran from 1984 to 1996, earned Lansbury a record 12 consecutive Emmy nominations.
But while Spencer is out of the fall lineup, Bill Cosby may be in. The veteran comedian is reportedly working on a sitcom about a multi-generational family with himself at the head. Fourteen years after Cosby went off the air, the actor-comedian says he is eager to develop another family comedy that "would [satisfy] the people who have come to me in public places and said, 'Can't you put something on that I can watch?'"
He continues, "There is a viewership out there that wants to see comedy, and warmth, and love, and surprise, and cleverness, without going into the party attitude." 
Cosby is also working on an update for his animated series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.
