Method Man Says He Quit Smoking Weed To Film ‘How High’
Method Man’s musical career is one of success and triumph, but so is his career in film as well.
During an appearance on Maino’s Kitchen Talk podcast, the Wu-Tang Clan emcee revealed that at one point during the filming of 2001’s legendary comedy film How High, he had to stop smoking real weed on set at one point during filming in order to maintain his focus.
“They [were] like, ‘You guys are so spot-on in the morning, but after lunch, you come back… something’s different,” Meth recalled. “The producer, Stacey Sher, I remember she pulled me to the side and she was like, ‘You know after this I’m gonna still be a producer, my face isn’t on the screen, but I’ll get my credit. That’s your face on the screen. How do you wanna be seen?’”

He also admitted that the instance was the only time he quit using marijuana.
How High, which celebrates its 21st anniversary today (December 21), follows the lives of two stoners, including the Staten Island rapper and longtime partner in crime Redman, who encounter the ghost of their dead friend after smoking his ashes.
Method Man previously spoke about being both a successful musical artist and actor after winning an NAACP Image Award for his portrayal of Davis MacLean on the Starz show Power Book II: Ghost.
“It’s no feeling like this in the world to be doing something for so long and to still reap the benefits of your work. I won a Grammy in ‘95 with Mary J. Blige for music,” Method Man said at the time. “And then, I won an NAACP Award with Mary J. Blige for acting. It gets no better than that.”
