Mo'Nique, Glenn Close, and Andra Day Star in New Trailer for Lee Daniels' 'The Deliverance'
The trailer for Lee Daniels' forthcoming supernatural horror thriller, The Deliverance, has just been released.
This film marks a notable shift from Daniels' usual projects. It stars singer-turned-actress Andra Day as Ebony Jackson, a young woman struggling with alcoholism while raising her three children, played by Caleb McLaughlin, Demi Singleton, and Anthony B. Jenkins. She also cares for her ill mother, portrayed by Glenn Close.
In an effort to start anew, Ebony moves her family to a different home. However, unsettling occurrences in their new residence attracts the attention of Child Protective Services and later thrust the mom into the "battle for her life and the souls of her children,” according to the film’s synopsis.
Directed by Lee Daniels and written by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum, The Deliverance is loosely based on the true story of the "Demon House" case in Gary, Indiana.
The cast also includes Mo-Nique, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. “The Deliverance” will open in select theaters on August 16 and will stream on Netflix starting August 30.
