CJ Wallace On Playing His Dad in Film

Says his grandma pushed him to take role in "Notorious."

While promoting his new dark comedy, Everything Must Go, which also stars comedian Will Ferrell, CJ Wallace talked about his previous role in the film Notorious.

CJ says he wasn’t initially interested in portraying the life of his father in the movie. He told The BVX, "When I did Notorious, my grandma, Ms. [Voletta] Wallace, told me that I should come in and read for the part as my father. Honestly, I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to do it because it seemed so likely for me to do it, like Biggie's son is going to play Biggie.”

On what got him to change his mind, CJ said, “After I had my acting coach and really read through it, I started to find out things that I didn't know about him. Then I took more of an interest into it. It was actually fun, going out to New York, living like him, going into his old apartment, doing what he did. It was cool."

When asked about which movie was most exciting to do – Notorious or Everything Must Go – the teenage actor said both, but had this to say about working with Will Ferrell, “He's hilarious, and to be in one of his first not-comedy movies is even greater.”
