UFC Medically Suspends Ronda Rousey For Six Months After Knockout

Seems like the beating she got from Holly Holm was worse than it looked.

It turns out that Holly Holm beat Ronda Rousey into a forced vacation with a knockout that was more brutal than we thought.

Earlier this week, the UFC announced that Rousey, the ex-bantamweight champion, has been suspended six months because of a head injury she suffered in her shocking loss to Holm over the weekend, as reported by Sporting News.

Although, Rousey had previously stated that she planned to take time off after UFC 193, this is certainly more time than she had projected. Her 180-day suspension will stand unless a CT scan reveals no head damage. Even if that turns out to be the case, though, Rousey will still have to sit out for 60 days, without having any training contact for 45 days, according to what the UFC told MixMartialArts.com.

The UFC handled this medical suspension since the fight was abroad in Australia, but usually such mandates are regulated by the particular state's athletic commission hosting the MMA event.

Hey, Rousey could use the time off after eating repeated left hands to the face, before being knocked out by Holm's vicious kick.

Her injuries must have been significant, considering she covered her face while being spotted by TMZ cameras in an airport this week.
