Tiger Woods Fires Longtime Caddie Steve Williams
Tiger Woods has fired longtime caddie Steve Williams, he announced his website Wednesday.
Woods, who has been inactive the last two majors while recovering from a leg injury, did not say who will replace his caddie of the last 12 years.
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it's time for a change," Woods said in a statement on his website. "Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future."
Williams had been a part of Woods winning 72 tournaments worldwide and 13 majors during his tenure. Williams has worked for Adam Scott the last three tournaments.
''Needless to say this came as a shock,'' Williams said on his website. ''Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger's scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries, I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time.''
There is still no word on when Woods will return to the PGA Tour.
