‘The Chi’ Star Jasmine Davis Left Show Due to ’Faking’ Vaccine Record

The trans actress calls the show a “very toxic environment”

Actress Jasmine Davis—a key player on The Chi has exited the series over a possible dispute with a vaccine record, according to Page Six.

The trans actress has tweeted that she exited the show because she had to leave “that very toxic environment.

Davis shined alongside Luke James as a ride-or-die couple and foster parents raising teenage Jake played by (Michael Epps) for two seasons.  She played salon owner and big sister to numerous sex workers, but is leaving ahead of the show’s fifth season. The likely reason comes down to vaccine requirements- including the allegation that Davis may have faked the required vaccine card.

“Jasmine asked for a vaccination exemption when she submitted a vaccination card for the prior season,” said an insider, per Page Six. “This triggered an investigation and Jasmine then quit the show.”

Davis has previously stated that she would exit the show in April, writing, per Page Six, “4 2 years i’ve been bullied 4 being on a show that was kind of a nightmare & the moment I clap back Instagram flag my comment as harassing them for trying to harass me on my page it’s unfair how they can come on my page and say whatever with no consequences.”

Davis’ character, Imani, was a popular one as she played a mother figure and was an openly trans woman on a hit show. She told Ebony in 2021, “Coming out during the pandemic had its pros and cons.”

“On one hand, I was able to stay in the house and feel safe. However, on the other hand, hateful internet trolls had a lot of time on their hands to send hate mail and leave negative comments on social media.”

She added, “I was probably getting more love than hate. But the hate was so directed and so loud and in my face.” Davis credits therapy and leaning on her “supportive circle,” which consists of her mother, her best friend, and The Chi creator Lena Waithe, the transgender actress is appreciative of the experience—both the good and the bad, according to an interview with Ebony.

“You don’t have to tell everyone everything until you’re ready. And I feel like a lot of people have to understand that. When you’re ready for whatever you’re ready for—whatever the time or situation, what is meant for you—you will have it.”
