Idris Elba To Star In New Thriller ‘Hijack’ AppleTV+ Series
Emmy Award-nominated actor Idris Elba will star in a new thriller series headed to AppleTV+.
The entertainment tech streaming service announced that the seven-part series marks the first project that comes from Elba’s first look deal with Apple TV+ and his Green Door Pictures production company.
Elba, who will also executive produce the thriller titled Hijack, follows his character, Sam Nelson, a business negotiator who is forced to use his professional expertise after a plane he’s on is overtaken by a hijacker, according to an official press release.
Directors for Hijack include Jim Field Smith, Jamie Laurenson, and Hakan Kousetta of 60Forty, and Kris Thykier. George Kay will also serve as an executive producer alongside Elba.
Green Door Pictures was founded in 2013 and has seen great success with titles like Concrete Cowboy on Netflix and In the Long Run on Starz receiving multiple awards and nominations.
While fans await the official release of Hijack, they can prepare themselves for Elba’s next thriller film, Beast, which is set to premiere on August 19, 2022.
